The Last Heroes of Humanity - Schlachtschiff "Bismarck"
The Last Heroes of Humanity
Schlachtschiff "Bismarck"
Waging the last
war, defending Honor and Dignity, Loyalty and Freedom, representatives of Homo
Sapiens fought on land, in the air and at sea. One of the last Heroes to
accomplish the Feat was the crew of the Schlachtschiff “Bismarck”. Perfect and
solitary, he entered into an unequal battle. Into a battle in which there was
no chance of victory. A battle that resulted in inevitable death.
The ship and
crew were led into the last battle by Kapitän zur See Ernst Lindemann. Before
the decisive battle on May 27, 1941, he had a choice - to fight to the last and
preserve the Honor and Dignity of the Kriegsmarine personnel and die or
surrender and lose Loyalty. There were no options, because being the standard
of Honor, Loyalty and Dignity, the captain and crew chose to die rather than
surrender. More than 2000 people simultaneously made a difficult and desperate
decision - to die, but to become Heroes.
Before the last
battle, the commander of the military squadron released the second ship -
Schwere Kreuzer "Prinz Eugen". There was no point in endangering the
lives of another 1,500 people by letting them continue to fight for the sake of
Freedom and Honor. "Prinz Eugen" received the last mail from the crew
of "Bismarck" and set off. The flagship, left alone, was ready to
take on its last battle.
Without
accepting the offer of surrender, without surrendering the ship to the enemies,
Ernst Lindemann entered into battle with a fleet several times larger than his
own. The result was tragic - after the destruction of all deck superstructures,
the ship lost the ability to resist. However, even this did not break the
military spirit of the crew. Not wanting to surrender the ship, the last
decision was made - to open the seams and sink the already practically dead
Bismarck.
The ship never
surrendered, died, and sank to the bottom with its crew. Just over 100 crew
members survived. Captain Ernst Lindemann remained on board until the last, and
died, as befits a Hero. Today, lying at a depth of almost 5000 meters,
"Bismarck" is a symbol of Loyalty, Honor, Dignity and Fortitude.
