  A bit of history If you allow me, I would like to restore historical justice. The commander of the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division in the service of the SS troops (Ukrainian No. 1). SS-Brigadeführer Fritz Freitag. After the war, many books were written by former ranks of this division, in which Freytag was portrayed as a weak, incompetent commander who did not value his personnel. The authors of these books were Ukrainians who denigrated their commander. I managed to find memories of Freitag's actions, reflected in official reviews of him following the Battle of Brody in 1944.
